The snow is gone from Arizona, but so are Tiger Woods and Rory McIlroy. This tournament has been full of surprises, from the two inches of snow to the upsets. After today’s first round, Tiger Woods, Rory McIlroy, Lee Westwood, Adam Scott, Jason Dufner, Charl Schwartzel, Dustin Johnson Bill Haas, Ernie Els and Keegan Bradley have been eliminated.
Only four in the top 10 are still in the tournament including Luke Donald, Louis Oosthuizen, Justin Rose and Bubba Watson. Other notable names still in the field are Jason Day, Sergio Garcia and Martin Kaymer. These are some big names in the golfing world, but for the average fan, we can imagine that they won’t be tuning in for the rest of the tournament – terrible news for TV ratings!
We’ll be seeing McIlroy and Woods next week at the Honda Classic, where Rory will try to defend his title – hopefully they’ll make their way into weekend play!
