The WGC-HSBC Champions tournament concluded yesterday, with a great battle between the final group of Dustin Johnson, defending champion Ian Poulter and Graeme McDowell. It was a tournament with a lot of big names in the field, however, the most notable name missing was Tiger Woods. Although he was already in Asia prior to this tournament taking place for the exhibition Match at Mission Hills Haikou against Rory McIlroy, he opted not to enter into the WGC-HSBC Champions.
Instead, he spent some time over in Singapore as a part of his mini tour of Asia, where he held a golf clinic at Marina Bay Sands. A group of young golf enthusiasts from the Singapore Sports School, Golf Academy and the Dyslexia Association of Singapore had the opportunity to learn from Tiger as well as watch him hit some shots in the custom-made golf course and simulator.
This was Tiger’s third visit to Singapore, having been in the country before hosting other golf clinics. As you can see from the video above, a simple golf clinic and appearance can really inspire a young person’s life! It’s great to see Tiger growing the sport of golf – Rory McIlroy has also spent some of his time in Asia to grow the sport of golf by holding golf clinics in Japan and in China with ex-NBA player, Yi Jianlian!
