Last year, we were treated to the “Duel at Jinsha Lake,” which featured the game’s two biggest draws in Tiger Woods and Rory McIlroy. The match was played over 18 holes at Lake Jinsha International Golf Club in Zhengzhou, with Rory shooting 67 to beat Tiger by a shot!
This year, Tiger will have a chance at redemption as they will play another exhibition match on October 28th at Mission Hill’s Blackstone Course in Haikou, China! The Blackstone Course opened in 2010 and is one of 10 Schmidt-Curley designed golf courses and is set amidst black volcanic lava rock. It was named Asia’s “Best New Course” by GOLF Magazine and “Asia Pacific Best Championship Course” by Asian Golf Monthly Magazine. The Blackstone Course also hosted the 2011 World Cup of Golf where McIlroy and partner, Graeme McDowell tied for fourth. This will be Tiger’s first time playing at the Haikou resort and first time visiting Hainan Island, though he’s played on the other Mission Hills Golf Courses on the mainland before.
Although we have this match at Mission Hills to look forward to this Fall, We still have two more FedEx Cup playoff events to play, starting with the BMW Championship at Conway Farms Golf Club this week!
