The first event of the 2013 FedEx Cup playoffs wrapped up today and what a weekend of golf it was! The leaderboard of the Barclays at Liberty National GC was packed going into the back 9, with multiple scenarios that could happen. Four players finished one shot off the winning score but it all started with Phil Mickelson, who made an early charge up the leaderboard by shooting a 6-under 65 but came up two shots short.

Despite an ailing back, Tiger fought back hard in his round. On the 13th hole, Tiger crumbled to his knees after his second shot but he managed to birdie 16th and 17th to give himself a chance to tie for the lead on the 18th! Tiger’s putt on the 18th hole to force a playoff came up one or two revolutions short of the hole whereas Justin Rose and Gary Woodland also had opportunities to tie for the lead but missed their putts! And of course, we have to mention Canadian Graham DeLaet who was also a shot within the winning score! In the end, it was reigning Masters Champion Adam Scott who pulled out the victory to continue his stellar year. More than once, it was said that Adam has reached a new level after his victory at Augusta and it certainly seems like it!

Next week, the second week of the FedEx Cup takes place as the PGA Tour moves to Boston for the Deutsch Bank Championship! There was a lot of drama with the FedEx Cup standings as well as the field gets cut from the top 125 players in the FedEx Cup standings to the top 100. The new “bubble boy” this week is Camilo Villegas, who squeezed in at spot 100 when Aaron Baddeley missed his putt! After this week’s dramatic events, we can’t wait until the FedEx Cup playoffs continues!
