We’ve featured the Taylormade SLDR 430 Tour Preferred driver from Taylormade Japan a while ago, but it wasn’t until recently that we’ve been hearing news about it in North America. In the video above, you’ll see Taylormade Tour Staff Dicky Pride, Martin Laird, Charlie Wi and more share their initial reactions to seeing and testing the brand new SLDR 430 driver!
Like the original SLDR, the SLDR 430 is engineered with a low-forward CG location to promote faster ball speed and a lower spin-rate. This, in combination with increasing loft (the Loft Up campaign) will increase distance. The SLDR 430 will be offered in 9.5°, 10.5°, and 12° lofted heads and has the ability to increase or reduce loft up to 1.5°. The sliding weight mechanism is also used in the SLDR 430 – a blue 20-gram weight, with 21 different positions, slides on a track located on the front of the sole to shift the clubhead’s CG horizontally toward either the heel, to promote a draw, or toward the toe, to promote a fade. The SLDR 430 will feature a Fujikura Speeder 67 shaft.
Workability and traditional sizing is emphasized is definitely emphasized in this driver – hear what the Tour Staff have to say! Now if only it came in all black like the one offered in Japan (above)! What do you think of this driver offering by Taylormade?
