The SLDR is one of the most popular drivers on the PGA Tour and among consumers. With it’s low and forward centre of gravity, the SLDR is one of the lowest spinning drivers in golf today–and with such low spin, higher loft is needed to keep the ball in the air for even more distance, a concept called “Loft Up” by Taylormade.
It looks like Taylormade is taking the SLDR technology and putting it into a “mini driver.” From the USGA conforming list, the Taylormade Mini SLDR Driver was recently added and is listed with a loft of 12 degrees and roughly 250CC head. You’ll notice that in the photo above, there is no sliding adjustable weight, so this “mini driver” is more similar to the SLDR fairway woods than the actual SLDR driver. You can bet that this will probably be a competitor to the Callaway “Deep” series of fairway woods, which Phil Mickelson used for his victories last year at the Scottish Open and The Open Championship. Callaway offers the X2Hot 2Deep and 3Deep woods. Make sure to check out Golf WRX for more info!

Can’t wait to try one. Never like the larger drivers.
We can’t wait to try this SLDR Mini Driver either! Did you get to see the colour photos from the WGC-Cadillac Championship? It looks really good, especially with the matte grey!
