This year, Taylormade has been pushing out the concept of Loft Up with its new SLDR driver. Lofting Up is contradictory to what we are used to the last few years in terms of gaining “crazy” distance but Taylormade’s new innovation changes everything! Hank Haney, who is now with Taylormade, gave his thoughts on Lofting Up a few weeks ago. Today, Taylormade went a step further to explain the concept of Lofting Up and why it works!
The center of gravity in previous drivers were moved back constantly but as a result, this made the spin rate too high. To combat this, the engineers at Taylormade moved the center of gravity forward and lowered it as well. This reduced the spin rate dramatically but in order to increase the spin rate to achieve an optimal spin rate of 1,700 and a 17 degree launch, the only solution was to Loft Up! Take a look at the videos for a thorough explanation from Taylormade and its feedback from their Tour players!
