Yesterday, we featured Rory McIlroy and Gary Woodland competing in a driving challenge in the all new BMW i3. This event was held on a specially created driving course outside Six Flags Great America and raised $10,000 for the BMW Championship and Evans Scholars Foundation! Here is some more footage from Rory McIlroy’s fully eletric racing challenge in the BMW i3 – let’s just say, at a certain point in the video, it looks like he was driving the same way he played during today’s first round of the BMW Championship at Conway Farms Golf Club.
Just a recap today’s round though, defending champion Rory McIlroy shot a 7-over par in what seemed like a tough day out on the course. The wind definitely seemed to be a factor. The top-10 after the first round of the BMW Championship is: 1st (-8): Brandt Snedeker, 2nd (-7): Zach Johnson, T3 (-5): Charl Schwartzel, Steve Stricker, Tiger Woods, Kevin Streelman, T7 (-4): John Merrick, Adam Scott, Ryan Moore, Nick Watney. Even though Tiger shot a 5-under 66 for today, he was fairly unhappy with his round, after missing several short putts and “leaving a couple out there” – we wish we could be angry about shooting a round of 66!
