2014 is just around the corner and with it comes another year of Major Championships! Although Phil Mickelson is a multiple Major Championship winner, he has yet to win the elusive US Open. In 2014, the US Open will return to Pinehurst No.2, where the US Open was also held in 1999 and 2005. Phil Mickelson came close in 1999 before eventually losing out to the late Payne Stewart however, the heartbreak of not winning the US Open was softened by the birth of Phil’s first child!
Now that the US Open is returning to Pinehurst No.2, Phil will look to manage his schedule and build up his local knowledge of the golf course ahead of the 2014 US Open! Phil is not the only player trying to familiarize himself with Pinehurst No.2 as Jim Furyk played it recently as well. With the restoration of the golf course by Coore & Crenshaw, it is almost a completely new golf course. Listen to Phil on Friday’s Morning Drive on the Golf Channel as he talked to Gary Williams and Charlie Rymer about his upcoming 2014 season and his preparation for the 2014 US Open at Pinehurst No.2!
