Odyssey has had their newest putter on tour for the past couple of months, but it’s been a mystery club! The sole of the putter is often stamped with question marks or covered with a putter cover with question marks to add to the mystery! However, it has already gotten a win on the PGA Tour when Chris Kirk won the McGladrey Championship last month!
This mystery putter has been unveiled as the Metal-X Milled puuter, Odyssey’s next putter to join the high-end milled putter market. The Metal-X Milled will be available in six styles, including the universal heel-toe No. 1 blade as well as Odyssey originals like the No. 7, No. 9 and the Rossie. The Metal-X is milled from a block of 1020 carbon steel and features a dimpled pattern on the entire face of the putter, however, instead of being an insert, the putter’s face is chemically etched into the face. This design increases friction for a better roll and reduces contact area for a quieter sound at impact.
The Metal-X Milled putter also comes with interchangeable weights that can change the headweight from a standard weight of 350 grams to either 340 or 360 grams. The cavity behind the face as been thinned out to allow more weight to be redistributed to the perimeter and a crossbar in the cavity behind the face controls unwanted vibration. The Metal-X Milled putter will be available next month for around $300 – $350.
