This past week has been full of news in regards to the controversial topic of anchored putters. On November 28th, the USGA and R&A announced their plans for the rule change, which prohibits the anchored putting stroke in golf. However, this does not mean that long putters are going to disappear and Odyssey is the first company out there to adjust and adapt to this rule change. Yesterday, Odyssey announced their new line of putters under the Metal-X line.
Known as the Arm Lock, the new putters under the Metal-X line are 43″ in length and the top portion of the grip is designed to press against the lead forearm. By pressing the grip on the lead forearm, this creates a forward press on the putter. To offset this, 4° has been added to the standard loft. There will be two versions of the Arm Lock putters, coming in the popular two-pronged No. 7 and the D.A.R.T. mallet. Matt Kuchar has successfully been using this “Arm Lock” style of putting and upon the recent announcement from the USGA and R&A, the most important factor is that it’s legal! The Odyssey Arm Lock putters will be available on January 15, 2013!
