Nike Golf has released a Nike classic tailored for the golf course – the Nike Dunk NG, a classic on the hardwood adapted for the fairways and greens. The Nike Dunk NG consists of a full-grain waterproof leather upper body, Scorpion Stinger Spikes and Tri-LOK system for ground-gripping traction and stability and excellent cushioning for long-lasting comfort. Multiple colorways are also available, so make sure you check their website!
Nike says it best with their description and history of the Nike Dunk:
“Staying true to the original Nike Dunk, the Nike Dunk NG has the same fit and retro style that people have grown to love with premium materials and eye-catching colors. A sturdy rubber outsole wraps up to help protect the foot while providing cushioning and comfort and for extra durability, the forefoot is stitched with super-tough thread. Perforations over the toe area allow for ventilation when things heat up.
Be true-to your school colors, to your school of thought. That’s been the ethos driving the Nike Dunk since it launched in 1985. Back then, seven college basketball teams broke an unwritten rule and matched their Dunks to their uniforms. A riot of color ensued, and the Nike Dunk has been a symbol of individual expression ever since. Players, skaters and collectors picked up on the shoe and continue to influence it today.”
Nike has released a few golf shoes over the past couple of months, as well as a street wear collaboration of their Nike Air Force 1 with Japanese star, Ryo Ishikawa. They’ve certainly been keeping busy during the PGA Tour’s off season, recently signing Kyle Stanley and Nick Watney to join the Nike Golf team, who both previously endorsed Titleist equipment. They also signed the young Korean golfer Seung Yul Noh! Nike Golf also plans a “huge announcement” regarding their touring staff in a couple of weeks, during the Abu Dhabi HSBC Golf Championship – this just so happens to be Rory McIlroy’s first event of the season as well! Coincidence?
