Luke Donald Collection Wines

A few weeks ago, we introduced Ernie Els Wines. This week, we’re bringing you Luke Donald Collection (LDC) wines! The collection began through a friendship between Luke Donald and fine wine professional Bill Terlato of the family-owned Terlato Wine Group. Through a Napa Valley partnership, they released a Claret-style red wine blend in April 2008 and a Carneros Chardonnay in spring 2009. The Claret blend, named after the British Open Championship trophy (and because Claret is the British word for Bordeaux blends!), is a combination of Merlot, Cabernet and Cabernet Franc grapes

The grapes used in Luke Donald Collection wines are 100% Napa Valley fruit, primarily from the vineyards in the Rutherford and Stags Leap District appellations. But this isn’t just a wine with Luke Donald’s name on it – the golfer is a wine enthusiast and plays an active role in crafting the wines that bear his name. This personal involvement in the blending process makes the wines original, unique and best reflect his own personality and style.

Most recently, all of the wines from the LDC were awarded medals at the prestigious San Francisco Chronicles’ Annual Wine Competition, the world’s largest American Wine competition which includes a field of 5,500 wines from all over the USA.
