Ian Poulter is perhaps best known for his unreal Ryder Cup performances and his fashion forward clothing. His choice of clothing wasn’t always this bright and colourful though – like many other golfers, he was often provided the clothing he would wear on the golf course. But coming from a European background where clothing can be considered more fashionable and tailored, he saw a niche in the golf industry to create fashionable and functionable clothing. This became the beginning of his brand, IJP Design.
The past couple of years, we’ve definitely seen a fashion evolution in the sport of golf. But it was IJP Design that was a first mover in the industry, designing clothing for Ian Poulter that reflected the trends off the golf course. In the video above, Ian Poulter talks about starting IJP Design in 2007 and the luxury, contemporary golf apparel that they produce. The collections are designed based on extensive feedback from golfers and Ian Poulter himself, ensuring their clothing is functional and perfectly tailored down to the very last detail.
