Henrik Stenson: European Golfer of the Year

Henrik Stenson had an amazing 2013 PGA Tour season. Although Tiger Woods won the PGA Tour Player of the Year, Stenson was right on his tail and was also a finalist for the honour. Stenson’s game really picked up by March where he finished second at the Shell Houston Open. He then finished 5th at The Players Championship, 3rd at the Aberdeen Asset Management Scottish Open, 2nd at The Open Championship, 2nd at the WGC-Bridgestone Invitational and 3rd in the PGA Championship.

He finally broke through for two wins during the FedEx Cup Playoffs (Deutsche Bank Championship and TOUR Championship), which was enough for him to capture the FedEx Cup and the $10 million bonus! He would also win the European Tour’s season ending World Tour Championship to clinch the Race to Dubai and became the first golfer to win both the FedEx Cup and Race to Dubai in the same calendar year! With such strong play in 2013, no wonder he has been named the European Golfer of the Year! Hopefully, we’ll see this strong play of his continue into 2014!
