Henrik Stenson Wins Deutsche Bank Championship

henrik-stenson-2

Henrik Stenson has finally broke through and won the Deutsche Bank Championship today over the Labor Day long weekend! A summer of great golf and hard work has finally paid off for Stenson. He began the day two strokes behind 54-hole leader Sergio Garcia, but after an early flurry of birdies, he would take the lead and not let up. Stenson has definitely been playing the best golf of anyone on Tour over the past couple of months and certainly the most consistent, having close calls at The Open (finished 2nd), the PGA Championship (finished 3rd) and the WGC-Bridgestone Invitational (T2). He is now number 1 in the FedEx Cup playoff standings heading into the BMW Championship in two weeks. Henrik has fought hard throughout his career, at one point dropping to World Number 621 from 73 during the beginning of his career. Ten years later, he found himself rank 4th in the world after his win at The Players Championship before dropping to 230th in the world and fighting his way back to where he is now!

This is Stenson’s first win on the PGA Tour since the Players Championship in 2009. But perhaps Henrik Stenson is most remembered by his “strip tease” shot during the 2009 WGC-CA Championship – take a look at the video below! We also want to give Graham DeLaet a shout out for his great play this week being in the final grouping at the Deutsche Bank Championship, finishing 3rd at “EIGHTEEN UNDER PAR!” He’s now 5th in the FedEx Cup standings!
