This week, we’re continuing our Canadian Course of the Week feature! Over the past couple of months, we’ve worked our way from the west coast in British Columbia to Alberta, Saskatchewan and Manitoba. We also did a special feature on Chambers Bay Golf Course in Tacoma, Washington, site of the 2015 US Open Championship as we got to play it for the first time!
Starting this week and for the month of June, we’ll be continuing the Course of the Week feature in the province of Ontario. The first course, Glen Abbey Golf Club, is one of the most famous golf courses in Ontario and in Canada. It is located in Oakville and is the first-ever solo design of Jack Nicklaus. Glen Abbey has hosted a number of CPGA events and Canadian Opens, but perhaps what is it best known for is Tiger Woods shot out of a fairway bunker on the 72nd hole of the 2000 Canadian Open to win by a single stroke. I’m sure we’ve all seen the six-iron shot that he hit that day – 218 yards from a bunker on the right side of the fairway, carrying a large pond and to about 18 feet from the hole. In addition to the golf course, Glen Abbey Golf Club boasts an amazing clubhouse facility including world class restaurants and banquet, meeting and seminar rooms. The property is also home to the Academies of ClubLink, the headquarters of Golf Canada, the Canadian Golf Museum and Hall of Fame, and the Taylormade Performance Lab.
