The 2014 NHL season is not too far away however, NHL players still have a few weeks to relax and hit the links! We have featured hockey players before on our blog, such as former player Dan Quinn and this past summer’s “Miracle on Ice!” Claude Giroux of the Philadelphia Flyers recently got out for a round of golf but he was hit with a bit of bad luck when he suffered a freak injury!
As Claude said of his injury, he was taking a swing and his club hit a little behind the ball. The shaft of the club shattered, but his hand kept going on the swing and the shattered part went right into Claude’s index finger. The extent of Claude’s injury was damage to his extensor tendons in his finger but fortunately, he suffered no bone damage. Claude already had successful surgery at the Ottawa Civic Hospital in Ottawa, Canada, under the watchful eyes of Dr. Katherine Boyd. A full recovery is expected in 5-6 weeks so Claude will not be on the sidelines for too long when the NHL season gets underway! Our question for Claude though, what clubs were you hitting? We might want to stay away from those irons!
