Rory McIlroy Wins 2022 Tour Championship

Over the weekend, Rory McIlroy became the first person in golf to win a third FedEx Cup Championship – something not even Tiger Woods has accomplished! By winning the Tour Championship and FedEx Cup, Rory walked away with a cool USD $18 million, for a total on-course earnings in 2022 of USD $26.7 million in prize money!

He started the final round six shots back of World Number 1, Scottie Scheffler. They were paired together as the final pairing on Sunday. Rory shot rounds of 67-67-63-66 to capture his third win of the season (THE CJ CUP and RBC Canadian Open), marking his fourth campaign with three-plus wins, and first since 2019. This was a season of incredible consistency for McIlroy, who finished outside the top 25 just three times in 16 starts. He had 10 top-10s, as well, including in all four majors. He also led the TOUR in Strokes Gained: Total, averaging more than two strokes per round lower than the field’s scoring average.
