In a short amount of time, Collin Morikawa has established himself as one of the rising stars on the PGA Tour. Having already won the 2020 PGA Championship at TPC Harding Park, Morikawa added another major title to his resume as he shot a final round 4-under 66 to capture the 149th Open Championship at Royal St. Georges.
The 24 year old’s list of accomplishments is impressive, as noted by Justin Ray’s tweet below. Although Collin won the WGC Workday event earlier in the season, joining only Tiger Woods to win a WGC title and a major championship before the age of 25, he had a subpar performance at the Scottish Open a week before arriving at Royal St. Georges. But it was Collin’s attention to detail that would ultimately change his form.
If the start of Morikawa’s career is any indication, we might be witnessing one of golf’s all-time greats in the making. Perhaps that might be too bold of a prediction but would you bet against Collin Morikawa? In the meantime, enjoy the highlights from the newly crowned Champion Golfer of the Year.
