Two weeks ago, Jon Rahm was running away from the pack at the Memorial tournament however, a positive Covid test forced Rahm’s withdrawal from the tournament. Despite the unfortunate event, Rahm was optimistic heading into the 2021 US Open at Torrey Pines, one of his favourite courses in the world and the site of his first PGA Tour victory in 2017.
It almost seemed destined and with a packed leaderboard heading into the final day of the US Open, Jon Rahm steadily shot a final round of 4-under 67 to best Louis Oosthuizen by one shot. This was not without excitement though as Rahm made birdie with a sweeping 25-foot putt on the 17th hole and added another birdie on 18th! Jon Rahm’s first major victory propelled him to the number one world ranking in the OWGR.
