Dustin Johnson is your 2020 Masters Champion. In a year unlike any other, he played Augusta National like no other has before. He set a Masters tournament scoring record at 20-under par, another record for fewest bogeys (four) and tied a third record for most greens hit (60). This was Dustin Johnson at the peak of his game – and this was after a two week quarantine in Las Vegas after contracting Covid-19 and a sluggish start, but T2 finish at the Houston Open the week prior.
At 36 years old and winning his second major after coming so close countless other times, this is perhaps the start of an era of Dustin Johnson dominance in the sport of golf. With a solid team around him, including his younger brother, Austin, on the bag as a caddy, it wouldn’t surprise anybody to see this level of dominance from Johnson sustained over the next few years. Ever so non-chalant, the golfing world finally saw some emotion coming from Johnson after winning the Green Jacket – a rare insight into the World Number 1 and just seeing how much he does care about the game and all of the hard work and sacrifices he has put into it.
Johnson’s childhood home is 75 miles from Augusta, about an hour away. Since playing competitively, you can imagine that having a putt to win the Masters came quite naturally. And to win with one of the greatest of all time putting the jacket on him, with last year’s winner Tiger Woods, was just the cherry on top. In the video above, watch every shot from Johnson’s final round at Augusta.
