Marc Leishman has won the 2020 Farmers Insurance Open. He began the day four shots behind 54-hole leader and former champion Jon Rahm. Leishman scored a final round 7-under 65 at the South Course at Torrey Pines, host of the 2021 US Open – to finish the tournament at 15-under-par for a one shot victory.
For Leishman, the end of the day was utter joy. It was the fifth PGA Tour victory of his career and it came on Australia Day. On the Australian equivalent of July 4 — Jan. 26 — the affable 36-year-old Aussie won the Farmers Insurance Open, a tournament in which he had twice finished runner-up. And he did it by charging from behind.
To be honest, golf has been the last thing on our minds as the world reacts to the news of the death of Kobe Bryant, his daughter Gianna Bryant and 7 others in a tragic helicopter crash. Golf just doesn’t feel that important right now.
