Tiger Woods Wins ZOZO Championship

Tiger Woods made his 2019-20 PGA TOUR season debut last week in Japan at the inaugural ZOZO Championship and captured his 82nd (and counting) PGA TOUR victory, tying Sam Snead for most TOUR wins all time. After a recent knee operation, just weeks before he leads the US Team at the Presidents Cup in Australia, Woods showed great poise and control of his golf ball throughout the tournament, leading wire-to-wire. Watch the video above to see highlights from the week at the ZOZO Championship that required a Monday finish due to typhoon rains and flooding. Woods finished at 19-under-par (64-64-66-67), beating the local favourite, Hideky Matsuyama, by three strokes. The legend of Tiger Woods continues to grow and you can’t help but think we are witnessing one of the greatest comeback stories in all of sports.

When you think of Tiger Woods, there is no shortage of highlights and memories. Perhaps it was his first Masters victory in 1997, his dominating performance during the 2000 US Open at Pebble Beach, his US Open playoff victory over Rocco Mediate on a broken leg or maybe it was his most recent Major Championship victory at The Masters, after a drought of over a decade. You cannot deny his golfing brilliance and impact that he has had on the sport and it’s current generation of players – the “Tiger Effect.”

Some of the numbers from Tiger Woods’ career includes:

  • 82 (and counting): Tour wins
  • 15 (and counting): majors
  • 142: consecutive cuts made
  • 683: weeks spent at No. 1
  • 96%: rate closing solo 54-hole leads
  •

Next on Woods’ schedule will be his Hero World Challenge from December 4 – 7, 2019 in The Bahamas before jetting off to Melbourne, Australia for The Presidents Cup on December 12 – 15, 2019. Although he is captaining the team, given his recent play, do you think we will be seeing Tiger Woods, playing captain?
