In his 79th career PGA Tour start, 27-year-old Taiwanese Cheng-Tsung Pan has finally captured his first victory on tour at the 2019 RBC Heritage. The former University of Washington standout was a part of a packed leaderboard at the start of the final round but a round of 4-under 67 with three birdies in the back nine vaulted him to the top to claim his first victory.
The packed leaderboard was filled with experienced players, such as world number one Dustin Johnson as well as Matt Kuchar and Patrick Cantlay. CT Pan was staying warm on the range in anticipation for a playoff but raised his arms in triumph when he found out he won.
With this victory, Pan will now qualify for next month’s PGA Championship at Bethpage Black as well as his childhood dream of playing in the Masters! He will also be exempt on tour through 2020-21 and will now be in line for a spot on the International team at this year’s Presidents Cup.
