Weather played a huge part in the 2019 Genesis Open at Riviera Country Club. The first round was cancelled due to rain and the weather continued to play a factor through the four rounds in the following three days. In the end, JB Holmes emerged victorious as he bested Justin Thomas by one shot for his fifth career PGA Tour victory.
It was a long Sunday for most of the golfers. By trying to squeeze in four rounds in three days meant early mornings and golf until it was too dark to see the ball. JB Holmes played 33 holes on Sunday, with many of the holes in cold, windy conditions. He started the day 4-shots back of the lead however, that lead soon evaporated and JB found himself in the lead.

Although Justin Thomas played well for most of the tournament, he succumbed to a few costly mistakes in the final round, shooting 4-over 75. He did have two chances to tie JB on the 17th and 18th hole however, his birdie putts did not drop. As well as JB played, Justin Thomas admitted that he may have gifted this tournament away.
However, JT will quickly have an opportunity for redemption. Next up on the schedule will be the WGC-Mexico Championship at the Club de Golf Chapultepec, where last year, Justin Thomas lost in a playoff to eventual winner, Phil Mickelson.
