We’re already heading into week two of the 2019-2020 PGA TOUR season and this week, players will be teeing it up at El Camaleón Golf Club in Playa Del Carmen, Mexico for the 2018 Mayakoba Golf Classic. Rickie Fowler, Tony Finau and Jordan Spieth headline the field and are all looking to capture a victory in their final tour start of the year. Fowler will be searching for his first win in nearly two years; Finau will look to add another victory to a very strong year; and Spieth will be searching for some momentum to head into the new year, even though he played strong last week, but faded into the weekend.
We’re liking Rickie Fowler’s chances this week – he’s put in a game improvement Cobra F9 4-iron into the bag and has said that it could be a “sneaky weapon down at Mayakoba.” The wider sole on F9 4-iron has made it easier for Fowler, one of the best ball strikers in the game, to hit down on the ball and produce a “driving flight without it affecting the ball.” After almost a decade as a professional, Fowler has only four wins under his name, but from what we gathered from checking out the sportsbooks here is that he’s the favorite across the board to win the upcoming Mayakoba Classic.
