Justin Rose defeated Haotong Li in a play-off to become the first player to successfully defend a Rolex Series title at the Turkish Airlines Open at Regnum Carya Golf & Spa Resort. Rose started the day three shots behind Li but led by two with four to play. An incredible eagle on the 15th moved Li back level but both men dropped a shot over the last three holes to take it to a play-off at 17 under. A Li three-putt on the first trip back up the par-four last then handed Rose the victory that moves him back to the top of the Official World Golf Ranking as World Number 1.
It may not have been the way Rose wanted to win though – after he two-putted for par from roughly 25 feet on their second visit to the 18th green, Li settled down over his 12-footer for birdie and what would have been his third European Tour victory. He missed the birdie putt, which ran roughly a yard past the hole. His putt for par also missed the cup about an inch on the right side for a bogey-finish.
