Aaron Wise Wins AT&T Byron Nelson

The 2018 AT&T Byron Nelson Championship was held at its new host, Trinity Forest Golf Club, with some of the best in the world competing for the victory. It was 21-year-old PGA TOUR rookie Aaron Wise who would capture the trophy after shattering the tournament scoring record at 23-under-par. He closed his final round with a 6-under 65 to beat Marc Leishman by three strokes.

The treeless links-style par-71 layout at Trinity Forest Golf Club, a few miles south of downtown Dallas, was defenseless with softer fairways and greens and little wind once the morning storms passed on Sunday. Wise definitely took advantage and has now won once each on the Web.com, Canadian Tour and PGA Tour. He’s been playing some strong golf as of late, finishing T2 at the Wells Fargo Championship, two shots behind Jason Day.

On another note, Adam Scott, who has not missed a major championship since 2001, shot a final round 65 to finish T9 at 15-under-par. This finish has him ranked just outside the top 60 (61st) in the world rankings, which he needed to qualify for the US Open. This finish was also his first top-10 of the season – it’s been a bit of a struggle for the 2013 Masters Champion lately and things just haven’t gone his way ever since the change in putters, though he did win back-to-back events in 2016 at the Honda Classic and WGC-Cadillac Championship.
