Phil Mickelson Wins 2018 WGC-Mexico Championship

Phil Mickelson is nearly 48-years-old, but he still has game. He took down the recent Honda Classic winner, Justin Thomas, in a playoff to capture his 43rd PGA TOUR victory, just seven shy of his career goal of 50. This is his first win since his Open Championship victory in 2013 at Hoylake. Aside from his duel with Henrik Stenson during the 2016 Open Championship, it’s been a rough couple of years for Lefty, but we’re glad to see him back in the winner’s circle! Take a look at highlights in the video above.

As well as reaching 50 PGA Tour wins, another driving motivation for Mickelson is being a part the Ryder Cup team later this year for the match at Le Golf National as USA looks to end a 25-year winless run on European soil. This win at the WGC-Mexico Championship, which followed results of T5, T2 and T6, has boosted his chances of qualification as he is now up to fourth in the Ryder Cup standings behind Justin Thomas, Dustin Johnson and Brooks Koepka. With Phil winning again and Tiger Woods looking healthy, are we going to see a resurgence in these legends’ game this year and have them give these young guns a run for their money?
