Last season, Callaway Golf released their Epic line of drivers and woods to great success. Their jailbreak technology was a huge breakthrough and this year, they’re bringing their technological advancement to their wedge game with the Mack Daddy 4 wedges. Roger Cleveland, Chief Designer of Callaway Golf, spent a lot of time working with tour pros to produce the beautiful shape of these wedges.
However, the new feature of the Mack Daddy 4 wedges is the new proprietary Groove-in-Groove technology that’s “designed to maximize spin for aggressive shot-making and control.” This is achieved by constructing sock cut horizontal milled grooves with micro positive phase texture from the top to bottom of the clubface, which results in 84 contact points between the club and the golf ball. In addition, there’s a “Nip-It” groove near the leading edge that imparts extra spin for short pitches and chips.

The Mack Daddy 4 wedges come in either platinum chrome or matte black and it will offer 9 different lofts (from 46, 48, 50, 52, 54, 56, 58, 60 and 64) with 21 loft-bounce combinations. There will also be four different grinds available; C, S, W and the new X grind – offering golfers a weapon of choice for a variety of playing styles and course conditions.
The C- and X-grind wedges are ideal for golfers that like to play a variety of different shots or play at a course that offers a wide range of lies. W- and S-grind wedges are extremely versatile and ideal for golfers who primarily like to hit their wedge shots with a square face.
