Last year, Henrik Stenson won his first major title at the 2016 Open Championship at Royal Troon. It was an epic duel between him and Phil Mickelson, the 2013 Champion Golfer of the year, and the tournament turned out to be an instant classic. In addition to winning the Claret Jug, the rest of the year was also very successful for Henrik as he won the Race to Dubai and was named the 2016 European Tour Golf of the Year.
In the profile video above, the PGA Tour takes us back to Henrik Stenson’s roots in Sweden where we learn of the interesting story of how he picked up the game of golf. We also hear stories from Henrik’s family as well as his childhood friends and Henrik himself. He may be enjoying all the successes now but things weren’t always so easy and he tells of the many obstacles he overcame in order to become one of the top golfers in the world.
