For the first time in 180 starts, Kevin Chappell is in the winner’s circle, after winning the 2017 Valero Texas Open. Heading into the final round, Kevin had a one shot lead. This was not an unfamiliar position as Kevin had the 54-hole lead in three previous occasions but this time, he was able to close it out for his first PGA Tour victory.
Posing the biggest threat was Brooks Koepka, who was four shots behind to start the day but quickly moved up the leaderboard after shooting a final round 65. But Kevin Chappell was cool, calm and collected as he shot a round of 4-under 68, including a clutch birdie on the 18th hole to win by one shot. Take a look at the video above for highlights of Kevin’s first PGA Tour victory and a celebration definitely worthy of the feat!
