Dustin Johnson Wins WGC-Dell Match Play

The WGC-Dell Match Play was held at Austin Country Club last week where World Number 1, Dustin Johnson, shined. Throughout the week and over 112 holes played, Johnson never trailed, winning his first Dell Technologies Match Play title and the fifth WGC event of his career. He has the most wins in WGC events than any other player not named Tiger Woods (18), but he has made history by completing the first ever WGC career slam, winning the WGC-HSBC Champions in 2013, the WGC-Bridgestone Invitational twice and the WGC-Mexico Championship earlier this month. He has also won the Genesis Open this year, making that three wins in three starts. Johnson also moves to Number 1 in the FedEx Cup points list with his latest win.

Although he never trailed during the entire Match Play event, it was not an easy final match for DJ against rising star, Jon Rahm. The 22-year-old was ranked #766 in the world last June and has since shot up for #14. In Mexico, he finished T3 behind Johnson and now, finished solo second. Although he was 5-down through 8 holes, Rahm battled to force the match to a full 18 holes, where Johnson would eventually win. This would certainly give him confidence in knowing he can keep up (literally, he hits it a mile too!) with the best in the world. In the video above, watch highlights from the final day at the WGC-Dell Match Play.
