The best in the world will tee it up at Arnie’s Place this week for the Arnold Palmer Invitational. It is the first year that this event is without it’s host, The King, who passed away in September 2016 at the age of 87. Mr. Palmer was a sports icon and looked up to by millions around the world – the epitome of cool – and really led the way for the sport of golf becoming mainstream.
On and off the golf course, he was able to connect with fans as one of the first golfing superstars in the beginning of the televised golf era. His social impact really opened up the sport of golf to the general public. He came from a humble background with a plain-spoken popularity which made the sport more democratic and accessible to middle and working classes. And off the golf course, his charitable ways helped many people throughout his life. This week will be a celebration of Arnie and his values. Take a look at the preview above for this week’s Arnold Palmer Invitational.
