In his first start as World Number 1, Dustin Johnson won the WGC-Mexico Championship with a total score of 14-under par, capturing his 14th overall victory and 4th WGC title. His fourth World Golf Championship title is second on the career list behind Tiger Woods, who won 18 WGC titles since the series began in 1999.
“The game’s very good right now,” Johnson said. “All aspects of the game, driving, putting, chipping. The only thing, my bunker game’s definitely improved a little bit.”
It was a star studded leaderboard on Sunday with names like Justin Thomas, who has already won twice this year, Rory McIlroy and Phil Mickelson lurking.
