Dustin Johnson is on top of the golfing world, replacing Jason Day (now Number 2) as World Number 1 after his win at the 2017 Genesis Open at Riviera Country Club. Johnson finished in the top-5 in this tournament five separate times without lifting the trophy, but this week, he dominated the Genesis Open to win by five shots with rounds of 66-66-64-71 (17-under par) to claim his 13th career PGA Tour win. In addition to the trophy, Johnson finished No. 1 in the field in strokes gained off the tee and No. 3 in putting – numbers that will likely yield a victory for him every time.
Johnson has now won at least once every season he’s been on Tour, a feat that matches Tiger Woods and Jack Nicklaus as the only golfers since 1960 who have won at least one golf tournament in each of their first 10 seasons on the PGA Tour from the time they turned pro. It’d be a pretty good bet to place on him winning a few more times this season – he’s had some very strong starts as of late finishing T3 at the Hero World Challenge, T6 and the Tournament of Champions and 3rd at the AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am.
In the video above, watch highlights of Johnson’s dominating victory at Riviera Country Club at the 2017 Genesis Open. His next start will be the WGC-Mexico Championship from March 2 to 7, 2017.
