Four wins and four different countries. Thorbjorn Olesen, or “Thunder Bear” captures his latest victory at the 2016 Turkish Airlines Open (previous three in Italy, Australia and Scotland) and becomes the youngest Dane to win four European titles!
He secured his victory with a final round of 69 at Regnum Carya Golf and Spa Resort. He entered the final round with a massive seven shot lead. He built this lead up with rounds of 65-62-68-69 to finish at 20-under par. His Friday round of 62 set a new course record!
“The win at the Turkish Airlines Open means a lot. The last three or four months I haven’t played well and I didn’t feel comfortable in the lead but I got over the line.”
Similar to many Nike Golf athletes, Olesen has been experimenting with new equipment. For his win at the Turkish Airlines Open, he nearly had a full bag of TaylorMade Golf equipment including the TaylorMade M1 driver, TaylorMade M2 fairway woods, TaylorMade PSi Tour irons, TaylorMade TP EF wedges while keeping his Nike Method Origin putter. We wouldn’t be surprised if we see the new TaylorMade TP Putter Collection in his bag soon though! The Turkish Airlines Open is the first of three tournaments in The Race to Dubai’s Final Series and the 78 players competed for a $7 million prize fund at the Regnum.
