Tony Finau is a rising star on the PGA TOUR and one of the biggest hitters in the sport. He is an accomplished basketball player, cousin to Milwaukee Bucks’ Jabari Parker, and a recent winner on the PGA TOUR. On the golf course, he is enjoying the successes of his hard work – and he’s trying to inspire his fellow Pacific Islanders to follow in his footsteps to success.

We all have a different story but we’re connected as one through our culture. We have each other, and we can make a change. It starts from the ground up. I’m happy to come back to where I know my roots are.
The video above is the fifth installment of First Step, a video series by The Players Tribune featuring athletes engaging the communities most affected by today’s social issues, from education and unemployment, to child hunger and homelessness among LGBTQ youth. Tony Finau, from Tonga, is featured as he takes a first step to aid Pacific Islanders in the challenges they face in their communities.
