This past season, the US Open returned to a traditional venue at Oakmont Country Club as Dustin Johnson broke through for his first Major title. This was a welcomed change by the players after the USGA experimented with playing the 2015 US Open at Chambers Bay.
In 2017, we will have another first time host of the US Open as the USGA takes their national championship to Erin Hills in Erin, Wisconsin. Located just outside of Milwaukee, Erin Hills was discovered and designed by Dr. Michael John Hurdzan and his business partner Dana Fry, and Golf Digest editor Ron Whitten.
Having only moved earth on a total of four holes, Erin Hills is one of the most natural golf courses in America. After opening in 2006, Erin Hills has hosted the Women’s Amateur Public Links in 2008 and the US Amateur in 2011. Next up is the 2017 US Open and in the video above, we get a preview of what the golf course looks like ahead of the 2016-17 season.
