A Visit to Ping’s HQ

Golf is a multi-billion dollar industry and there are many segments within it. From the professional scene to the amateur ranks, there are also many golf courses to play, which leads to golf tourism, golf business, equipment, fashion and the list goes on. In this month’s CNN Living Golf, they profile a number of leaders in the industry. Their first stop is Arizona, where Ping has their headquarters.

Ping is one of the leading golf brands in the world and its success was largely due to one of the most iconic putters of all time, the Ping Anser. On this visit, CNN’s Living Golf host, Shane O’Donoghue, speaks with the Solheims, the founding family of Ping, about the company’s history and its future. Shane is also lucky enough to visit Ping’s gold putter vault, which holds the gold plated replicas of all the Ping putters that have won on Tour.

Shane O’Donoghue then travels to Carlsbad, California to pay a visit to famed wedge craftsman, Bob Vokey. Bob opened up his first custom golf shop in San Diego in 1976. 20 years later, he joined up with Titleist and has been with them ever since. This year’s edition of the Vokey wedge is the SM6 and it has been incredibly successful on Tour. Watch to find out how Bob goes through the process of designing his world-class wedge.
