It has been 62 years since a Canadian has won their national championship. That streak will continue with Jhonattan Vegas winning two weeks ago at the 2016 RBC Canadian Open. Although much of the week’s focus was on Canadian amateur golfer Jared du Toit , who finished at an impressive T9, there is also the story of Garrett Rank.
Garrett is one of Canada’s top amateur golfers however, his off-season is a little different than most as he is also a NHL referee. In the Sportsnet feature, Derek Wright profiles Garrett Rank, who has fought off tremendous adversity to get to where he is today.
In addition to being a referee in the top level of hockey, Garrett Rank is also an amateur golfer who is good enough to represent Canada at the Pan Am Games and earn a spot in the field of the RBC Canadian Open. Learn more about Garrett and his journey in the video above.
