This week, the 145th Open Championship returns to Royal Troon Golf Club for the ninth time. Like other courses on the Open Championship rota, the golf course is full of history. The most distinct and iconic feature of Royal Troon is its challenging Par 3, 8th, known as the “Postage Stamp.”
Although the hole is only 123 yards, it presents a lot of challenges. The green is a tiny target that’s surrounded by five bunkers. With any type of crosswind, which is typical at an Open Championship, the green gets even more difficult to hit.
In the short Nike Golf Club video above, we hear from Rory McIlroy as he shows us how he’ll approach the iconic Postage Stamp at Royal Troon. We’ll definitely be keeping our eyes out to see if he’ll employ the same strategy on this hole once the tournament gets underway!
