The 2016 WGC-Bridgestone Invitational takes place this week at Firestone Country Club in Akron, Ohio. It is the fourth and final installment of the World Golf Championship series in the 2015-16 season. Defending champion Shane Lowry will have his hands full defending his title as 61 of the world’s top golfers will be in the field.
Among the golfers in the field are the other champions of this year’s WGC events, Russell Knox, Adam Scott and Jason Day. There is not much reprieve for players in this year’s schedule due to the Rio Olympics. It has only been two weeks since the US Open at Oakmont however, the Open Championship at Royal Troon is also just two weeks away. It may be tough for players but as golf fans, we really can’t complain!
