Titleist 917 Prototype Driver

Earlier this year, Titleist announced their C16 concept, which included a driver as well as irons. The main goal of these concept clubs were to “incorporate innovative new technologies, unique materials, advanced construction methods, and stunning cosmetic treatments” in the clubs’ designs. It was only a matter of time before these technologies would be made available to the public and recently, we see the first signs of it with the new Titleist 917 Prototype Driver.

The Titleist 917 Prototype Driver is currently going through the product seeding and validation process with some of the world’s best players. From what we can tell, the main difference between the 917 driver and its predecessor, the 915 driver, is its inclusion of the SureFit CG Weight technology. This adjustable weight system changes the club’s centre of gravity, allowing for a more consistent shot shape and increased forgiveness. This was first featured in the C16 Concept Driver. Although information is limited at the moment, we’ll be sure to keep a lookout as players test the new driver and may possibly put it in their bag this week at the Quicken Loans National.
