Sergio Garcia started the week at the AT&T Byron Nelson Championship with a round of 63 and played some very good golf this week. After he missed a 14-foot birdie putt on his 72nd hole to take sole possession of the lead, it seemed like it would be another one of “those” weeks for Sergio – playing well, but not being able to close out a victory. It’s a feeling that has followed him throughout his career in Major Championships and over the past four years as he won globally, but not on the PGA TOUR.
Brooks Koepka, who started the final round with the lead, would also miss his birdie putt on the 72nd hole and the two would play in a sudden-death playoff for the championship. After Koepka found water on his tee shot with Garcia finding the fairway, he would only need a routine par to capture his ninth PGA TOUR title. Garcia now joins Seve Ballesteros as Spaniards with nine PGA TOUR wins. In the video above, watch highlights from the tournament to see how it all went down.
