In 2019, the Open Championship will return to Royal Portrush Golf Club for the first time since 1951. Located on the North coast of Northern Ireland, Royal Portrush was founded in 1888 and is considered one of the finest places to play golf in the world.
Course preparation for a Major Championship is a lot of work. Despite the wonderful landscape and scenery found at Royal Portrush, it will undergo slight modernization, with the addition of two new golf holes. Golfing World visits the famous golf course in Northern Ireland as we get a status update on the 2019 Open Championship venue. We also hear from countrymen Rory McIlroy, Graeme McDowell, Darren Clarke and Padraig Harrington on their thoughts on the course.
