In addition to their original chrome finish, the PXG 0311 irons are now available in an all-black finish called “Xtreme Dark.” It is a carbon-based coating that is significantly harder and more durable than anything else on the market – so less wear and tear on the finish. It definitely adds an elegant look to the club.
The Xtreme Dark finish features a diamond-like carbon (DLC) coating that increases the surface hardness and wear resistance of the finish. In a company durability test, the coating outperformed every other product on the market. Currently used in fuel injection systems, the finish is the first application of black DLC coating technology in golf. The PXG 0311 irons are “very forgiving golf clubs that launch higher, go farther, feel softer and have a sweet spot the size of Texas.”
