At 18 years old, Lydia Ko has a long list of accomplishments in her young golfing career. Lydia burst onto the scene as a 15 year old with an effortless swing and her signature glasses. It wasn’t long before Lydia turned professional, making the announcement with fellow Kiwi Izzy Dagg, and began working with renowned golf coach, David Leadbetter, to take her game to the next level.
Despite initial concerns from David Leadbetter, his partnership with Lydia Ko has been an extremely successful one. Lydia became the youngest player, male or female, to reach the World Number 1 ranking in the sport of golf in early 2015. By the end of the year, she would win her first Major title at the Evian Championship.
This past week, Lydia captured her first win of the 2016 season and her 11th LPGA title in her young career at the Kia Classic (highlights below). With this victory, Lydia reaffirms her position as the top female player in the world and sits on top of the rankings for 23 weeks and counting.
