The PGA TOUR makes its annual stop in La Jolla, California, for the Farmers Insurance Open where players will take on the North and South courses at iconic Torrey Pines. The host South Course ranked as the fourth toughest course (non-majors) on TOUR in 2015 and has not produced a first-time winner in 25 years.
Torrey Pines is perhaps most known for Tiger Woods’ most recent Major Championship victory, the 2008 US Open, where he beat Rocco Mediate in a playoff on a broken leg. The US Open will return to Torrey Pines in 2021. This week though, it will be Jason Day who will try to defend his title against the likes of Dustin Johnson, Justin Rose and Rickie Fowler, who won last week at the Abu Dhabi HSBC Golf Championships.
